Removal and Replacement of an 18 x 36 Vinyl
over Steel In-ground Swimming Pool

We can arrange professional subcontractors  to handle
all of your swimming pool installation needs.

Due to poor drainage and age related fatigue, this customer's pool suffered irreparable structural damage.  After some consideration, the decision was made to replace the pool.

Due to the size of the project, a full sized excavator was needed.  The small workspace added to the challenge of the project, but was well within our abilities.

After removing the remnants of the old pool, the excavator begins to contour the rough excavation to accept the new- slightly larger- swimming pool.

This photo shows the completed rough excavation.  The "shelf," a layer of tamped crusher dust is also visible.  This will act as a level foundation on which the walls will stand.

A look at the excavated shallow end and face.

This photo shows the completed steel wall sections in place and bolted together.  The gap in the wall will accept the fiberglass step unit.  A transit is set in the shallow end of the pool to check the walls for proper height.

Another view of the completed wall section.  From this angle the step unit, waiting for installation, is visible.

The steps have been installed and leveled.  The outside of the pool now awaits a poured concrete skirt to lock all pieces in place and provide structural rigidity.

Coping is installed on the top of the pool walls to accept the liner.

Rolled foam is installed on the steel to add cushion and protection.

In this photo, mixing pans are visible in the pool.  These are used to mix the vermiculite that provides the finished surface under the liner.

The liner is in, water is started to "set" the liner.

As the pool fills, the liner is secured to walls.  Access to the steps will be cut soon.

Extensive drainage was required on this project.  In this photo, drainage pipe and gravel is being installed as the backfilling process begins.

Backfilling continues with the use of a full size and mini excavator.

Backfilling complete!
